2023
The 2023 edition of the Countdown Improv Festival took place from August 9-12 across three separate stages at the HCC Ybor Performing Arts Building in the Ybor City neighborhood of Tampa. The festival featured 79 separate improv shows starring approximately 145 performers from 17 different states, including three performances from the second annual Countdown Improv Festival Ensemble. The festival also hosted 11 separate improv workshops, and a Saturday afternoon family workshop/matinee geared for children 12 and under.
The festival was produced by Countdown Arts, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Festival sponsors included the Hillsborough County Cultural Assets Program, the Ybor City Development Corporation, the Gobioff Foundation, BarrieHaus Brew Co., Battery Park Financial Partners at Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, Brass Taxes, Trader Joe’s, Adobe Express, the Happy Valley XL Fest, and Stranded Creative Ltd. Co. The festival also enjoyed the generous support of dozens of individual donors. Finally, the festival was sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The festival ensemble was directed by Liz Marcucci and featured the following performers: Larry Bukovey, Daniel Dagesse, Victoria Koenitzer, Joe Llorens, Harvey Shifrin, and Randy Wood.
Improv workshops were taught on Friday, August 12 by Amy Angelilli, Alex Grindeland, Brian James O’Connell, and Stephen Wyeth; and on Saturday, August 13 by Diana Brown, Joe Bill and Jen Lavenhar, Jill Eickmann, Chris George, T.J. Mannix, Emily Ramirez, and Carlos Rivera.
2022
The 2022 edition of the Countdown Improv Festival took place from August 10-13. The first night of the festival was a hybrid live/online night, taking place at The MAR St. Pete in St. Petersburg, featuring five teams performing virtually, three teams performing live, and numerous bits. The next three nights all took place live and in person at the HCC Ybor Performing Arts Building in the Ybor City neighborhood of Tampa. All together, the festival featured 65 separate improv groups featuring 128 performers from 18 different states, Washington, D.C., Canada, and the United Kingdom. The festival also featured the inaugural Countdown Improv Festival Ensemble, comprised of eight individual improvisers from all over the United States. Shows took place across three separate stages at HCC Ybor. The festival also programmed 7 separate live, in-person improv comedy workshops.

The 2021 edition of the Countdown Improv Festival took place from October 20-23. It was initially scheduled for September 8-11, but the rise of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in summer 2021 forced a postponement. The 2021 festival was a hybrid live/online festival, with the first night featuring teams performing virtually and the next three nights all taking place live and in person. It featured 50 improv groups from across the United States, performing across 2 different stages, as well as 12 improv workshops (7 taught in person, 5 taught online). Festival sponsors included the Hillsborough County Cultural Assets Program, Brass Taxes, Lilith Elektra Coaching, Magnanimous Brewing, The MAR St. Pete, the North Fork TV Festival, and Stranded Creative Ltd.
